Resilience and Freedom
Resilience and Freedom marks the intimate beginning of Francisco Prieto’s artistic language. Born out of existential crisis and moments of collapse, these works are not explanations but visual condensations of survival and transformation.
Structured with marble dust, jute, rust, and pigments, the canvases embody both fragility and strength—textures that speak of constriction and renewal, shadow and release. They reflect an inner passage: through darkness, thorns, and silence toward openness, light, and a sense of freedom.
This cycle does not seek to provide answers. Instead, it opens a space for questions—about what carries us forward, how resilience takes form, and how freedom emerges from vulnerability.

"Prison of the Soul"
This piece was created in the aftermath of a profound personal crisis. Abstract, raw, and uncompromising, the work embodies the suffocating weight of external circumstances—and the fragile yet defiant stirrings of inner survival.
The fractured surfaces and erupting textures mirror a soul pressed into confinement, yet reaching toward release. At its core, a pulsating center becomes the visual metaphor for resilience: the first cry for freedom, the refusal to be silenced.
This painting stands as a threshold in Francisco Prieto’s artistic journey—the moment where collapse transformed into expression, and where the foundations of his present visual language were laid.

"Escape from the Shadow"
This piece marks the next stage of an inner journey. The figure emerges—still fragile, still wounded, yet upright and moving forward. Golden hues introduce a sense of hope, a quiet dignity reappearing after collapse.
Rusty grid structures recall the confinement of Seelengefängnis, yet here they are broken. White feathers evoke both vulnerability and the first breath of relief, while delicate Kintsugi-like cracks filled with gold affirm that it is precisely the fractures that complete us.
This work signifies the turning point: from introspection to movement, from paralysis to the first step into light.

"Through the Thorns"
This piece embodies the painful yet necessary passage toward the self. The figure moves deliberately through what was once avoided: the thorns of life. Branches, jute, and rusted fences form a raw, tactile underworld—yet above, a light unfolds that seems to rise from within.
The wings carried by the figure are no longer fragile but powerful. This work is about endurance, perseverance, and the search for meaning amid resistance. Its palette balances between pain and hope, depth and radiance—becoming a visual metaphor for the silent yet profoundly human process of maturation.

"On the Path of Light"
This piece represents both promise and pause—the final stage of the cycle Resilience and Freedom. The figure is not withdrawn but present, standing within light that shines quietly rather than triumphantly. Golden accents radiate stillness, while asymmetrical white fences frame the composition as a reminder: freedom requires structure, just as structure needs freedom.
Feathers have matured, colors have cleared. Blue evokes the unknown, gold the essential. This work manifests the strength born from previous struggles—not as an answer, but as an attitude: I am here. I continue forward.
A Personal Transition, An Artistic Mandate
This cycle was more than art—it was self-clarification. Out of it emerged a profound interest in the collective ruptures of our time: in societal fragility, political turning points, and the question of how we as humans confront uncertainty and control.
Resilience is not only individual. It is also systemic. What holds us together? What allows us to fracture? With these questions, my work moves into its next phase—always searching for images that connect without smoothing over, that confront without closing off dialogue.
