Essays

These essays accompany my photographic practice, but they do not explain it.

They are not statements, manifestos, or theoretical justifications. They are attempts to think from within the work — and from within the societal structures in which photography circulates.

The texts approach photography as a diagnostic and epistemic medium rather than a moral or activist instrument. They examine questions of distance, visibility, resonance, ethics, and power, without assuming that visibility produces effect or that images can guarantee transformation.

Each essay addresses a different aspect of this inquiry: photographic method, societal non-effect, ethical positioning, structural power, and the limits of critique from within systems.

They do not offer solutions.
They do not aim to resolve or reassure.

Their purpose is to make conditions visible — including the conditions under which photography fails to act, is neutralized, or becomes complicit.

The essays are intended to be read independently, but together they form a coherent field of thought emerging directly from practice.
